Single in the Vendée? From the big beach to the islands

Les Sables-d’Olonne and the Remblai

Les Sables-d’Olonne stretches the famous Remblai for more than three kilometres, a promenade lined with Belle Époque villas and brasseries. At the end, the fishing harbour, the Île Penotte district with shells stuck to the walls, and the start of the Vendée Globe every four years. An ideal setting for a sunset walk, a chouchou candy in hand.

Noirmoutier and the Passage du Gois

Noirmoutier is reached by bridge or, for the most romantic, by the Passage du Gois, a four-kilometre cobbled road covered twice a day by the sea. At the other end: salt marshes, the Plage des Dames with its bathing huts and the Épine dune. The ideal place for a date where you learn to read the tides together.

Île d’Yeu and Saint-Jean-de-Monts

A little further out, the Île d’Yeu is best explored by bike, from the harbour of Port-Joinville to the Vieux Château perched on its cliff. On the mainland, Saint-Jean-de-Monts and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie offer family beaches and long sands. On Lyad, members from the Vendée share their favourite coves; it is up to you to find someone to spread a towel with.
